Woodash: Mixed hardwood ash from my woodburner, screened but unwashed. I initially screen it through a screen door screen, then when mixing the glaze it goes through a smaller screen (80 mesh?), then I throw away the excess. The glaze thereby contains less silica (most of what ash is) but I get all the soluable potassium into the glaze. I've noticed that when I decant the supernatant a number of times the glaze becomes more matt.
